We happened to chance upon a Inflite Brochure form Taupo’s i-Site and decided to take it up. In the brochure they had the 90mins package or 180mins package. Upon arrival, host offered us 150 mins for NZD$150/pax. Bringing us through Huka Falls, Maori Carvings etc… It sounds short but the heli experience definitely worth it! Do try it if should you be able to!

I’m glad I did the World Heritage Volcanic Safari instead of the Tongariro Direct. For less than $100 difference, we got to do an additional landing at the Rangitikei River. 30 mins more flight time was well worth it.

We booked a helicopter flight and lunch at the Hilton through Inflite. Our pilot was Michelle. She was friendly and welcoming. She explained where we were going, pointing out things of interest and history on the way. The flight was around 15 minutes. Certainly not long enough. Finishing off at the Hilton. With our camera she took photos before our flight and when we landed. Will definitely do again.

A truly incredible ride. (More than equals our helicopter ride at 10 000 feet around Matterhorn for spectacular views!!) We flew down the length of Lake Taupo, circled the craters (including scenes from Lord of the Rings incl Mt Doom! flew into the Kaimanawa Ranges and landed on high point to take in vista, followed the Rangitikei River through some stunning beech forest, landed at a pristine pool where 10 lb trout linger and then up to see wild Kaimanawa horses grazing in the tussock, Maori Rock Carvings and Huka Falls. What a trip!! Toby Clark is a very competent and experienced pilot and also a thoroughly good guy.

Booked a Grabone deal for two which included a flight for two and lunch at the Hilton. My booking was secured with ease, customer service was excellent. We had a lovely flight over Taupo, nice to see from the air as we have been to Taupo many times. The flight itself is not long but standard in New Zealand but we were informed of the various places we flew over and saw the Huka Falls from above. It was nice to experience a smaller helicopter than what we have been in before and love the idea of mixing the flight with lunch – awesome meal too! We never felt unsafe. A great package for all to enjoy.

Booked a scenic flight then upgraded to a scenic flight with snow landing! Don’t get me wrong the view is incredible but landing on the glacier in a plane with skis tops it all! Also, the fun had in the snow on a summers day (we wore shorts and t-shirts) was ridiculous, in the best way. Great pilot, great ground staff and fabulous experience! Toby the pilot was really friendly and knowledgable. He actually flew the LOTR crew and Peter Jackson! Picked up and drop off at The Hilton for no extra charge. Didn’t rush us at each landing, we had time to take in the sights. We went over the 90 mins. Still I wished Toby would leave me on the mountain and pick me up later! I was in awe of the Volcanoes. Highly recommend the once in a lifetime ride! I’ll do it again if I visit Taupo.

Take off was so smooth and landing on the glacier perfect. Was fun walking about and getting great photos. Trip back down on the helicopter was also scenic. Nice commentary to enhance the whole experience. Highly recommend.
